As we approach Easter I thought we would consider the resurrection.

Hard to believe; the dead being brought back to life!!!! It's like being asked to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of the garden, I know that.   But...if you had told someone 150 years ago that you had seen men walking on the moon you would have been put in a lunatic asylum yet it's common knowledge today. So, let me simplify it.

Take an egg; (no, not an easter egg) a simple egg... it's the first thing we think of when we think of Easter isn't it?  Well, take the type you have for your breakfast, poached, boiled or fried...with toast. You break the shell, cook the contents, and eat it. The shell goes in the bin. The egg has gone. This is us, our bodies at the end of life, spent, used, gone! However, if a seed is planted in that egg...given the right care, in the fullness of time...a living creature will emerge from that shell!

Just for the moment, consider mankind as a simple egg, we are born of man's natural affection for his wife! After living this life we go to the grave... 'from dust you came, to dust you will return' we cease to exist.  However, if a seed is planted within our 'shell' and it is nurtured,  by spiritual input, by reading the scriptures, by mixing with like-minded people...that seed will grow...and grow...and grow. And at the end of our lives, when our bodies go to the grave; return to the dust; when we are no more, that 'spiritual' being lives on...

This is what returns to God and is eventually resurrected. (And I don't mean ghosts here!) This mortal body of ours is simply the 'shell' within which our spiritual selves grow. We are simply the incubator in this process.

At Jesus's resurrection his disciples recognised him! He showed Thomas the wound in his side, the holes in his hands and feet... He looked exactly as he always had. But he was not flesh and blood as we are. He was resurrected as a spiritual being...as we will be!

So plant that seed, if you are reading this then it is probably already planted... Come and join us, nurture that seed...and we will look forward to seeing you in the Kingdom.
