So, who is responsible for all the evil that goes on in the world, who is God’s enemy? Take a look at 1 John 1, verses 8 to 10. 8 “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” Anyone with even a slim knowledge of scripture knows about Adam & Eve and that first sin, eating that ‘apple’ when God told them not to. (I doubt it was an apple but that doesn’t matter right now). In absolutely typical nature when they sinned, Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the serpent. We all like to blame each other for our shortcomings, and when we run out of people to blame we blame ‘the devil’; how convenient! Time to repeat that old saying; “look into the mirror and you will see the devil”. The Hebrew word ‘Satan’ simply means ‘adversary’, well mankind is very good at that game without outside help! Q: Was Jesus a ‘spirit being’ in Luke 24:39 where Jesus Appears to the Disciples? LUKE 24: “36 “While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40 “When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.” Some folk feel the need to think Jesus was some kind of ghost/spirit-being here but surely Jesus makes it quite clear when he says “look, it’s really me, look at my hands and my feet that are obviously visible beneath His cloak. He clearly realises they think He is some kind of ghost/spirit and invites them to actually touch Him and see for themselves. He raises the level of debate further by saying “a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” Finally, He did something that nailed it when He said; “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave Him some fish and yes indeed, He took it and He ate it. I hope you will agree, Jesus was/is no ghost/spirit being. Well this is a huge subject but hopefully some light will have been thrown on the subject for you here.
